Once you have completed the steps above, the Dropbox app will have been uninstalled from your Mac. There are no settings that I can find that stops. If I stopped using it why the heck it is asking me to start it again every time. Now the welcome to dropbox (setup) screen comes up every time I start the computer. I had dropbox active at one point and stopped using it. Now, that you have uninstalled the Dropbox app, you may not need the additional Dropbox files inside the Dropbox. This way you can delete Dropbox from Mac but it won’t delete the Dropbox folder and the files inside it. Finally, select the Dropbox app from the “Applications” folder and move it to the “Trash”. Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut Command Shift G. With the Finder open, click Go in the menu bar, then click “Go to Folder”. The easiest way to clear the Dropbox cache in macOS is to head to the cache folder using the Finder’s “Go to Folder” option. Click on the icon and then click the gear icon in the lower-right corner of the Dropbox window. When the app installs, it places an icon in the menu bar. As in the previous case, if this step is skipped then the default folder will be selected and will overwrite any other existing synchronisation folder (possibly from the first Dropbox account).First, install the Dropbox app on your Mac. Again, as in the case of Mac OS, special attention should be paid in the final step where the user needs to specifically define the target folder for the synchronisation. Attention to the correct username (here is sepdek, but it can be any username defined by any user).įinal step is the definition of the shortcut name In the shortcut properties type in a command like the followingĬ:\Windows\System32\runas.exe /user:sepdek /savecred "C:\Program Files (x86)\Dropbox\Client\Dropbox.exe"Īs shown in the following figure. Next comes the definition of a new shortcut with right mouse click on a folder, in this example on the desktop. Ok, there is a new user now, in this case named “sepdek”. The settings are shown in the following figures. Right click on the empty space in the users console and select New User…ĭefine the new user name and password and after that right click on the new user to change the user group that user belongs. In the Computer management console select and open the Local Users and Groups and then the Users. Right click on the Start icon and select Computer management. Ok, first things first: let’s add a new user to the system. Multiple Dropbox clients on WindowsĪctivating a second Dropbox account on Windows is slightly more complex, since it needs the addition of another Windows user. If this step is skipped then the default folder will be selected and will overwrite any other existing synchronisation folder (possibly from the first Dropbox account). Attention should be paid in the final step where the user needs to specifically define the target folder for the synchronisation. Once the application is launched it will require the user to login and select the folders to synchronise. The process is shown in the following figures. HOME=$HOME/Dropbox_auxiliary /Applications/Dropbox.app/Contents/MacOS/Dropbox
